In keeping up with the Joneses, here’s my Tempus Gameit summary for the month of September!

NINE Games!

September was a buffet, although some of these were samples and some were dessert.

That middle finger on the left side of the graph is, of course, Star Citizen. I suspect that this period is present because that’s when patch 4.10 or 4.10.1 dropped, but I don’t recall with certainty. I hit about three hours total for the month, with a wee bit poking up there around the 19th.

I saw a video talking about how Space Engineers 2 was going to be implementing or improving it’s NPC combat, including FPS engagements, and my interest was piqued. I purchased Space Engineers 2 and spent a heck of a lot of time with it, mostly trying to complete the tutorial which involved building a space-worthy ship that I just couldn’t design to save my life (literally, in the game). Once I did, though, I fell off, but it was a good four days/seven hours or so.

After that I was kind of all over the place. When Dune: Awakening dropped the single-player update I played that for a while, though had some issues with the stats. I also wanted to just shoot virtual creatures and since we got word that Destiny 2 was going to be returning older content to the game, I decided to pick up the DLC I didn’t own, and logged in for a while. But only once, really because after getting absolutely steamrolled by everyone mentioning World of Warcraft Forever in every third social media or blog post I came across, I figured I might as well get back to finish Midnight.

CRUMB, Wizardry, and Dungeon Settlers were so infrequent that they barely registered. They were all impulse buys and aside from CRUMB, deserved better than what I gave to them. CRUMB is more of a utility than a game, but since I got it through Steam it’s registered as a game.

I tried to set up Rocksmith with my bass, but Ubisoft sucks ass and I couldn’t get the ancient app to run on my PC. Thankfully I only payed something like $1.99 for this version, so I’m not heartbroken over it.

All told I am just a sliver shy of 18 hour of active time in September, with six and a half hours of idle time; I’m not sure where that comes from, but I did have some issues with TG mis-reporting Dune: Awakening. I had accidentally identified the launcher as the game, and since the launcher only runs for less than a minute or so, I didn’t get proper stats there. That was my fault for not paying proper attention.

Review

I don’t know if it’s the time or year or what, but I’ve been not just hopping between games, but haven’t really been spending a lot of time gaming. Star Citizen, Space Engineers 2, Dune: Awakening, and WoW are the biggest spenders this past month; I expect WoW to feature prominently in October as well, but the others?

Star Citizen is on forced hiatus right now. CIG has actually been making some welcome and competent moves recently. They held a tech preview channel test for updated placeable physics which should stop boxes and other non-ship, non-NPC items from bouncing around which is more of a PITA in the live game than you think. Reviews of the test have been overwhelmingly favorable. They are also making strides with TTK for ships, mainly on the lighter end of the weight class, which is bringing in the usual mixed reviews along party lines, but the trend seems to be that people like where these updates are headed. Just today, there was a rumor that the lates Evocati tech preview channel would feature the Genesis updates, so I’m sad I’m not in the Evo class. Still, Star Citizen hasn’t held a lot of allure for me recently. 4.10.1 released another ongoing event, but while the wrapping is different, the core of the event is another “do things X times to earn points on a track” affair, and I’m not at all interested in that. Last night I collected everything I had in Nyx and flew it back to A18 in Stanton for the hell of it, because I realized I wouldn’t be completing the Battaglia rep track for the rewards on offer. My goal now is to hopefully get some reason to make me want to log back in, but that’s another post for another day.

One game that didn’t make the cut for whatever reason is CONTROL Resonant which sucks because I played a lot of it on release day. I’m not sure why I didn’t get picked up by the app, but Steam says I’ve played 7.3 hours so far.
