
I got it in my head to make a space ship of some kind, and I started with one of the engine pods. I really like it; I think it looks good in it’s relative low-poly form.
Unfortunately, I can’t think of a design to attach it to, so there’s my nice engine pod, floating in space like it’s waiting for something to hook on to so they can both head off in the great unknown. I kind of feel sad for the engine pod, being all lonely out there.
This is part of my overall angst with 3D modeling: technically the act of creating “a model” — at least a rudimentary, recognizable object — is fairly straightforward because it’s basically a matter of push and pull. It is by no means a simple process to get amazing results, but right now it’s not the process that I’m struggling with, it’s the concept portion.
